Hi guys! Just realised that the days are passing and it will be our Newlyn Saturday session again soon. The loose plan was that I would organise a table for us to go to Dolphin (same place as last year) for some supper afterwards. They open for food all day so we could aim to be there for 5pm I think.

Can you let me know if you hope to come and I'll book a table.. hopefully anyone who doesn't get to Newlyn might even be able to just come along for the meal?

Any problems with transport and I am sure thise of us who have cars can run anyone home.. let me know! Kathi xx

We're back...

.. travelled all day yesterday and landed at Newquay last evening, greeted by Ross, his girlfriend and Col's Dad. Had a great two weeks in the sun...well to be fair, we had a few days of rain but even then there's no need for coats or shoes..

Hit the ground running, in the office now catching up on all the gossip and trying to remember what I ordered from Tesco to arrive this evening. Our Zac is on the way home and we have plans to go cut a holly tree when he gets back.. so decorating that and discovering the food shop tonight!

Have heard from quite a few of you... hope you all have a fantastic few days and if you want to join us New Year's Eve for our marine / nautical fancy dress party (in honour of Zac's leaving for his ship phase in January) you'd be more than welcome..starts about 8.30 / 9pm, the more the merrier, but I do need numbers unless you want just a bag of crisps on the way in!

Went to Exeter yesterday - big spends :) - but can hardly walk today my legs are so stiff! Saw Linda, poor girl had been robbed in the afternoon - lots of her small vintage pieces taken. .. hi girls.. I was lucky enough to be given a Papermania craft trolley and bags and hope to get it filled up over the weekend.. it may even make me scrap more at home if I can bring most of my stuff into the kitchen in one go.

So...any advice on what to put where and if any of the pockets etc are best used for what products!.. come on Pat / Jenney, sure you'll have thoughts..xxx

.. well it's been a long day, my shoulders are aching from typing and being at a desk.. but then when I come indoors and think about blogging it's a different thing altogether!

Linda and Jenney below have got me thinking about Summer and I thought I'd post a picture which I took on holiday last year.. I can almost feel the warmth of the sun and definitely the brightness when I look at this..

Hasn't it been a crazy month again..I can't believe it's a month since we last met and such a shame we were all so busy that we didn't get together yesterday.

I was not sure where I was going with the 'Rainbow' challenge for May, but then browsing my photos on Thursday night, this one shouted out at me..I used all the bits and pieces in my scrap box and some funky foam letters I'd originally planned to give to Lilly (but then realised we should start on lower case)

And the leafy / flower paper was packaging from a Sanctuary Spa gift set I've been meaning to use since Christmas! A true 'scrap' page.

Hi all,

On Saturday 18th June I shall be holding a "You and Your Camera Workshop" between 10am & 4pm at Grampound Village Hall.
It is a basic workshop aimed at the beginner. You will learn to navigate your way around your camera, learn about aperature mode - (how to create blurry backgrounds or not), experiment with shutter speeds and look at exposure compensation as well as having an opportunity to put your learning into practice in a relaxed friendly atmosphere.

.. last weekend I wondered into More in Penzance, they have a little craft area with a few bits (two nice metal alphabets which I fought the urge to buy.. for now!)

But I did succomb to these little bits.. loved the aeroplane and the liner, thought they'd be a good little additions for when my Zac wends his way away with Princess Cruises..

..and one of the guys I work with was showing me 'Steam Punk', its' all gears, clocks and steam stuff'.. how the world may have ended up if steam hadn't been phased out post-Victoriana.

Keeping my hand in..

Hi guys... not sure what's been happening with 'Blogger' but it seems there was some kind of maintenance glitch at 'Blogger HQ' and some comments and entries were lost...I know both Linda and Margaret had commented on the after-lunch entry, but they are not there now so I'm hoping they may reappear as 'normal service is resumed'...

Anyway, Linda is away at her weekend in Market Harborough and hope she's having a great time. I know some of the people have been before so she won't be meeting all new people.

I've had an odd day, usual taxi mode and then sleeping off a headache, but awoke renewed, got take-away for tea, (as who wants to cook straight after that!), and then left Col to doze and learn more about aircraft investigations(!) while I tidied the scrap den and spent an hour playing with my Cuttlebug.

I find it hard to scrap a whole layout at home, without the inspiration or nudge from Linda's latest 'technique', so when I can grab an hour I have started playing with the different tools and making up some of the odds and sods you always wish you had brought along to a Saturday session.... so here's a few of the bits I played with this evening..the little stamp size embossed bits will be perfect for the next layout,, they feature a '1' and a '14', perfect for scrapping our new baby, born on Kate's 14th birthday!

...is called www.wordle.net Just go to the webpage and click on create. I found it doesn't repeat words in a sentence but if you write the words in mixtures of upper and lower case it will repeat.

Just enter a bunch of text and play around with it. There are lots of examples in 'Gallery'.
I'm not sure how you make it print smaller and stuff yet, but it's nice to use for a different kind of background / layering paper.

March : scrap just one word..simple.

Linda joked 'simple' was just one word, so, that was it, and I had the perfect picture.. and you can see that later!

April : If you had to leave everything behind, for what ever reason...but had the option of keeping 5 things what would they be and why?

Well this caused much debate in my house, and in my head, so putting emotion and practicality aside I plumped for humour, I even used my Betty Boop calendar...and I just realised I haven't even used a photo in the layout, though I'm not sure it's a journalistic triumph either!

I'll leave it a little longer before I let you in on my '5'...

Photography day...

..as Kathi mentioned in the previous post some of us had a 'photography day' yesterday. Basically I spent the day with Mandy,Yvonne and Becca (Mandy's daughter)showing them basic photography skills. We had a lovely time - well I thoroughly enjoyed myself :) we spent a couple of hours at Mandy's going through all the buttons and what they do and how to find them etc, then we had a wonderful lunch prepared by Mandy.....delicious...... the we headed off to Portreath to put into practise what we had been talking about. I am going to upload some photos just to give you an idea of what we did, we tried fast and slow shutter speeds. The only problem with slow shutter speed is that it was abit too bright for it hence I have altered mine in photoshop, but the original is there as well. I will be the first to say they are not very good, my excuse is not taking my time, just trying to get a quickie to see if we could do it. Naturally Yvonne's and Mandy's will be much better as you will see when they upload theirs :):) !!! They also took some nice fast shutter shots and froze the waves - I just blurred them badly lol :)

Hi everyone! I'm not sure what it's meant to feel like but Easter just doesn't seem to be what it used to be.. not that I can really recall what it used to be in any particular way! I know some of you are having a photography day together so hopefully we'll see some examples of your Spring offerings in the next few days? (unless of course the pub lunch gets the better of you..!)

As for me, it's a bit of quality time off.. I'm actually taking Kate to get her ear pierced (yes, in the singular, one of those random piercings at the top of just one ear..has to be done, to stop the pleading and doe eyes every day or two..) Then home to do some time in the garden, and I want to bake a fruit cake..so there..and Kate's going to help me..says it'll be more fun than hanging out in Hayle, but I think that's only because after 10 days even that must be boring!

So, before I leave I'm writing this and enjoying a cup of 3 Ginger tea.. Linda brought some to our last session and it was good, so I bought some when I shopped online this week and when it arrived I loved the packaging too..made me remember our 'scrap the packaging' day we had when Lilly was born, almost 3 years ago now!

Maybe we could repeat and use Easter packaging inspiration, but only if my tea box counts!
So, don't eat too much chocolate and have some fun this weekend with those you love xxx

Our American friends sent some gifts for our girls and as is the want with kids, (and teenagers in this case!) the packaging (pink shredded paper) was as much fun as the presents! Jordan was playing about with her digital SLR and I think these really caught the craziness of the moment.. may even be worth a layout..

SO much is going on in the world at he moment, political unrest, natural disasters, It has put a lot into perspective for me. I thought it could be reflected in a scrapbook page.

Just wondering how many of us are working on the monthly challenges..?

I know Margaret and Mandy have done some great January offerings for 'If you really knew me...' and I've started an 8x8 album for the whole year's worth of challenges...the only trouble I have is keeping to one thing.. like how could I scrap just one Childhood Memory!

Perhaps my own personal challenge should be 'to answer the question'. Anyway I cheated and have scrapped a person for a childhood memory and then I had several stories to tell!

It was a great day Saturday, and it's really spurred me on to do some more!

I spent some time yesterday working on my album for the year. I've decided to do an 8x8 which I had here waiting to be used. I've started a title page, and almost completed the January and February challenges.. mainly the words to get right. I used lots of distress inks, so much so I think maybe I should stop now..and even used some of the B&W papers which have caused me so much distress (pun intended!)

I think having a tidy scrap room has helped (thanks Ross), and I've promised myself at least one evening a week moving forward with all the layouts in my mind..

...and if I do March and the Tregenna day on 12th and get the same momentum I should be well sorted for the year, especially when I have all those pics of the new grandchild to scrap!

.. I can't look at the Beiber's girlie face any longer I thought I'd update you on the plans for Saturday's 3rd birthday meet.

So far we have at least seven of us eating at the Dolphin for 7.30pm and six of us at least having an extended scrap session at the Centre til 7pm.

Looking forward to it, have sorted my space and I even know where all my hearts stamps and rub-ons are... though I have no pictures planned ..not sure whether it should be a 'True Love' kind of photo or 'The Object of my Affections'!

Well I was actually grinning this morning when I went into Kate's room. Zac had bought her a Justin Beiber poster for Christmas for a kind of joke (she isn't a fan but her pal is, and she does listen to him, her guilty secret I think) and to keep the joke running she has him on her wall.

Well this is how he looks now, Kate's friend Ashleigh gave him the girlie make-over! Iit made me wonder if teenage girls like the pretty boys because they are almost girlish in appearance.?

Personally David Cassidy was my teen-dream, but that meant you weren't a Donny fan, but if I'm honest I think Donny has turned into the best looking adult!

Who was your teen-dream girls? (I think Jenney's was a Rolling Stone?)

For those who didn't make it to Newlyn today, we had a chat about another social event and maybe a longer session one Saturday, as some of us (who shall remain nameless since I am writing this, seem to talk too much and only get going at 3pm!). We realised it was our 3rd Anniversary in February and most of us were keen to have an evening together soon.

So.. we have agreed to stay at Newlyn in Feb til 7pm and then I'll book for us to eat at the Dolphin pub beside Penzance harbour, it's warm, noisy enough for us not to embarass ourselves (me anyway!) and there's a good choice of food.

On the way home I realised that Yvonne won't be there but hey, it just gives us another excuse to have a social as soon as she is up and about!

Hoping a good bunch of us can make it, just drop me a note, I'll probably email around as well for those who don't read this so often!

When I got home and told Colin it was our third birthday coming up, he said only women would remember the birthday of such a thing... I reckon what he meant was 'only women remember birthdays, full stop'. , and anyways, if you remember the anniversary of something and bake a cake to mark the event, the guys get to eat some. So they'd best grin & bear it, and enjoy the cake! eh?

.. well it's all very quiet round here, so you must all be having a much busier time than me.. a good time had by all I hope.

Not much to report from my end, we went out and found a new car yesterday and the kids may be having few friends over this evening. Work is quiet but I'm using the time catching up on December's many loose ends, so hope to start the New Year kind of sorted...

...not the same in my scrap room though I should add.. that's one of my resolutions, to be more organised and to throw things out instead of dumping them somewhere where they are out of sight but still a mess!

Morning scrappers! (in the theme of Hi-De-Hi)
I thought that since half my crowd is sniffing and coughing I'd just do a reminder and a head count to see how we're all fixed for Tuesday evening... 7.30pm meet.

I think this is the plan.. Linda, Anna and Pat / Me, Emma, Mandy and Margaret / Yvonne & Karen / while I think Jenney and Dori will come separately... Yvonne, did you have another lady from St Austell or is that my imagination? Let me know and I'll confirm numbers with Ask Tuesday morning.

Busy weekend here, had a take-away night last night for JB's birthday (too many coughs to go to SeaFood as planned) and now on a reluctant mission to clean the house before we get the decorations out! Monday we have our works meal, so not much cooking for me this week!

Really looking forward to Tuesday..it is fancy dress isn't it Linda ??!! (joke... honest!)

We had fun today, everyone turned out some great festive layouts and plenty of banter and buffet as usual!

Thanks for all the effort with what has turned out to be our 'Challenge for the Year'... Margaret did ask what next year's challenge will be...your guess is as good as mine.. and on second thoughts perhaps I'd better shut up and not suggest anything!!
